Lindsea, I am pointing students in my high school class to Students 2.0. I am also making teachers aware that student blogging is not the wolf at the door. Have you checked out youthbridges.net? They have been working on the youth centered social network you describe.
Do you consider MySpace and Facebook as youth centered social networks? Why can't you use those platforms to connect to others?

You folks have a handle on making the changes needed to create not only great learning opportunities but you bring with those ideas the energy and the reality that this is a 24/7/365 endeavor not to be confused with the learning in the silo education. I really like the concept of creating the virtual meeting place for various people to bring their ideas to and have someone or a group of people manifest the idea into a formative structure. How might you envision similar wind powered machines to the ones shown in this video be manifested in that type of a scenario? Check it out @
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/162
If you don't mind a little interactive blogging perhaps people could also comment about this on one of our blogsites @ www.sendenergy.blogspot.com
Please keep up the great work. You are pioneering the way to a much better world than you were born in!

Great idea. Nice to see students creating ways to connect and communicate on the web. Hope it grows into something great.

Lindsea (and, really, all of you Students2.0 writers): you make me feel like even at the age of 25, my job as a teacher is to relinquish the world into the care of your generation before I've even hit 30.

Nice work.

Lindsea,

We can always count on you to lead by example. I'll certainly spread the word about Youthnet, place a link in my class Blackboard account, send messages to our staff members & regional BOCES librarian Listserv.

I can't promise that you'll get much participation from our area, but at least I can open some eyes to possibilities.

And while it would be inappropriate for me to post on the wiki (since you rightfully want to make it student-centered rather than teacher-generated), I will certainly be observing and learning from all of you.

Rock on, puna!
